Jim enjoyed his career as a professional lorry driver taking great pride in making his deliveries on time. Over the years he worked for the following firms; Noble Coal, Munros Transport, Shanks Transport, Charles Alexander's,Christian Salvesen, Glen Dee Transport and probably some others too. He loved to tell stories and jokes especially in the good old days when drivers stayed in Transport Digs. He was affectionately known as Big Jim or Gentleman Jim. He was always at the forefront of the fight for better terms and conditions for drivers which often brought him into conflict with unscrupulous owners, however he stood by his principles and frequently paid the price. Despite that he loved driving the highways and byeways of the UK and the continent.
